Beat the Heat! How to Stay Cool and Safe During Pakistan’s Heatwave
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a heatwave alert for most parts of the country, especially for Punjab and Sindh provinces, starting from May 21st.
Temperatures are expected to be above normal, reaching severe heatwave conditions between May 23rd and 27th. Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary sun exposure, and be cautious of heatstroke symptoms.
We can’t prevent heatwave themselves but We can definitely take steps to reduce their impact.
Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water is essential to replace lost fluids and electrolytes. Aim to consume at least 8-10 glasses of water per day.
Electrolyte Power
Consider eating hydrating fruits and vegetables with high water content like watermelon, cucumber, celery, and melons into your diet. Oral rehydration solutions can also be helpful, especially if you’re sweating heavily.
